Meter monitoring (EC)

Meter monitoring ensures that EnergyControl constantly receives up-to-date meter readings. This enables any failures or problems with data transmission to be detected at an early stage.

Each meter reading is assigned a status:

Status Value Meaning
Not OK – Simulated value -3 The meter reading is simulated.
Not OK – Bus failure -2 No communication with the meter.
Not OK – Readout error -1 Hardware meter reports an error during reading.
OK – Value not plausible 0 Data is present, but the value is not plausible.
OK – value plausible 1 Data available and the value is plausible.

Monitoring on the controller

The counter values are checked for plausibility on the controller. The following monitoring functions are available:

  • No change in value: If the counter does not change its value within a configurable time period, an alarm is triggered.
  • Negative value change: If the read counter value is smaller than the last value read, an alarm is triggered.
  • Excessive value change: If the read meter value is greater than the last read value plus a configurable offset, an alarm is triggered.
  • Change to the wrong tariff: If the meter reading changes to the wrong tariff, an alarm is triggered. This is only relevant if the meters are read under a dual-rate tariff.

Monitoring on the server

The system checks whether meter readings have been received within a defined time period.

  • If no meter readings are received within 24 hours, an alarm is triggered.
  • If no change in the meter readings is detected within 24 hours, an alarm is also triggered.

When an alarm is triggered, either a ticket is automatically created for our support team, or an email is sent to the relevant integrator. The support team investigates the cause and processes the ticket without the customer needing to intervene.
